All You Need To Know About Veneers

Veneers could be an excellent way of improving the appearance of the teeth. Dr. Krieger uses a thin, tooth-colored shell in order to cover the natural tooth. If your tooth is chipped, cracked, stained or uneven, you should consider having veneers. They can also be used to close large gaps between the teeth. Veneer look great especially if done correctly, but before you decide to have them you should take into careful consideration the different essential factors since it will permanently change the appearance of your teeth. Thus, you should first weigh your decision.

There are two main types of veneers. These are composite resin and porcelain veneers. A porcelain veneer is generally the most sought after kind because it will outlast composite resin varieties. Porcelain veneers usually are the perfect choice because these are stain resistant, and they typically last much longer. They do a much better job in matching the teeth’s natural color. The veneers are tyipcally produced by one of our trusted and professional dental laboratories. You may get temporary veneers while waiting for the permanent one.

Resin veneers are less resistant to stain, thus they usually are not preferred, but they may be a much better options in some cases. They are usually created inside the dental office, so these can be used and applied sooner. These type of veneers are also less expensive compared to porcelain ones.

How are Veneers Applied?

Dr. Krieger will take impression of the teeth; the impression will be used as the guide in designing the veneers. It is common that before the veneers will be attached to the teeth, that we may need to file some of the natural enamel. Filing away the teeth is irreversible. After the filing, we will cement the veneers to the natural teeth with the use of dental resin. Some dental patients will experience increase in tooth sensitivity for some time  since the natural enamel was removed.
